How Dora The Explorer Character
Changed Our Life

Hi! My name is Fay Barrow the founder of Dora The Explorer Adventures. Dora The Explorer character is the main reason I chose to build Dora The Explorer Adventures.com. It is one of most popular sites on the Internet catering to parents and children alike who adores the character Dora.

I would like to give you some background on who I am and why you should spend some time browsing this website and also how you can make a living or partime income with your very own online business.

I am a 33 year old happily married woman with two beautiful kids. I like any other woman out there worked 9-5 daily to ensure my family is happy and most of all my kids needs are fulfilled.

My last job which I quit (only couple weeks ago January 2007) was high pressured and it was taking away too much of what I thought was precious time from my little ones.

One day I spoke to my husband and I decided I was going to give up my 3 1/2 years with the company and find another job eventually which only require 8 hours a day, (excluding nights) 5 days a week and weekends off so I can spend more quality time with the ones I love most.

When I came home I realised how good it felt, picking up the children from school and listening to them rattling off about their experiences and new things they have learnt daily. I eventually told my husband one day, "I've decided to be a stay at home mom". He looked at me smiled and said "The choice is yours hon".

At this time I started to wonder, can I stay at home everyday just doing house chores and not be bored? I am not accustom to this.

Well, this is exactly what I did for a couple of weeks until I decided to take the christmas gift from my husband seriously. It wasn't a tangible gift but one that will change my life.

I logged on to the website and began to read. I discover there was a company out there willing to take me by the hand and guide me to building a successful online business.

I read about regular people who knew nothing about online marketing but became very successful. These people were making a part-time income and others were able to quit their daytime job because the revenue they were making from the online business replaced their income.

This got me very excited and as I read I began talking to my pc. "You mean I can stay at home worked approximately 2 hours a day, do my daily chores, pickup the children from school and still earn an income?" "You got to be kidding!"

I couldn't wait until my husband come home that evening to let him know I read some of the information and I find it very interesting.

We finally decided I should invest my time in an online business so I will be able to do all the things I am doing and also earn an income.

Ok. I found something I wanted to do but I didn't have any idea of what kind of online business I should start. For many days I ponder on what area I should target until I decided it is going to be Dora The Explorer Adventures.

As I mentioned earlier I have two kids (boy and girl) ages 8 and 5 respectively. When my daughter was in preschool she was known to be very shy. She never participate in class or when we go to concerts or anywhere with too many people she is always withdrawn and acts like she doesn't want to be there.

I remember her preschooler teacher telling us to spend some extra time with her because she needs help with recognising colors and numbers.

We knew this was not the case. She could recognise colours and numbers but how are we going to get her to participate in class. Remember she is only 3 years old and we could not pressure her because we did not want to make things worst.

I searched for answers everywhere including her pediatrician but no one was able to say exactly what we can do to help her come out of this shell.

One day I went to the mall and I saw a high school friend that I hadn't seen for a long time. We chatted a bit from one thing to the other and I told her what I was experiencing with my daughter.

She sensed the frustration and hurt in my voice and she said to me, "Fay do not worry about it, give me the names of the television programs she enjoy". I began calling them and she stopped me after the fifth one. She asked, "Doesn't she watch Dora The Explorer". I said "What...who?''

She went on to explain about Dora The Explorer character and what an important part Dora The Explorer played in her children's life. She told me Dora the character builds confidence and I will be amazed at the knowledge my daughter will gain from this program.

I told her this sounds to good to be true but I am willing to try anything at this point. I hurried home and I recorded the episode for that day. When my daughter came home that evening I told her about a new program that I think she will like and I wanted her to watch it.

When she watched Dora The Explorer she fell in love with her and from that day Dora was everything. She made sure she watched every episode along with DVDs I bought.

She enjoyed every minute. When she watched Dora The Explorer she interacted with her. She helped her solved problems by answering questions. It was clear by her doing this things eventually got easier in the classroom.

After a couple of months her preschool teacher wanted to know what brought the change. She said my daughter is very energetic in class and she is participating.

When we met with her preschool teacher for her final assessment before she went off to Kindergarten she was very impressed with the student she became. She told us she is very organized and confident in whatever she does. She went on to say she believes whenever she is going out she will draw a map before she left the house.

Those words really made me feel elated. It also confirmed that being around Dora whether it be DVDs, books, games, or dolls for imaginary play it helped to build the confidence that was lacking.

So now you see why I chose Dora The Explorer for my online business. It changed our life in more ways than one. My daughter continues to be an "A" student and is very confident and my online business has not yet replace my previous income but has great potential to do so.

I am so glad I made the decision to start an online business. Thanks to all of my family for the support and all the tools and knowledge used.
