What Is ADHD

What is ADHD? – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder has now become a concern for many parents nationwide. It is a common behavioral disorder that affects a small percentage of our children.

Children with ADHD have problems completing simple tasks, are hyperactive, act without thinking and have trouble focusing.

Many parents do not see symptoms of ADHD in their children at an early age. They often think when a boy is running through the house like a tornado; wrestling and romping all over the furniture this is normal. Parents start to get concern when this continues at the age of 7 and beyond.

You must remember that most if not all children act this way at times, especially when they are in a different environment. They also behave like this when they are overly anxious and excited.

This behavioral disorder also affects children in the classroom as they become disruptive and are easily distracted. They find it difficult to sit and concentrate for long periods. They also have difficulty completing assignments in the classroom.

If it is confirmed that your child has ADHD you should begin treatment as soon as possible.
